Our story

A software engineer and a trade compliance analyst walk into a bar...

Thirteen years later, during a roadtrip, they were talking about their day‑to‑day work and what they would change if they were in charge of the realm for just one day. The analyst shared how drafting authorization packages can be a long, tedious process — and how managing those authorizations after approval requires endless Outlook reminders and Excel spreadsheets. The engineer saw the opportunity instantly.

Together, they began imagining a world where the authorization process could be streamlined, standardized, automated, and managed in one place. Boom — KNITTECH was born.

Jacob Knitter

20 years in technology and software development

Jacob has over two decades of experience turning complex needs into practical software. His approach combines hands‑on coding experience with clear systems that make work easier for the people who depend on them.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Purdue University and a specialization in Web technologies, Jacob oversees the AMES software development.

At KNITTECH US, Jacob shapes the technical direction and ensures AMES is designed with relevant fields and strong usability, turning your inputs into actionable data.

A space nerd himself, he enjoys watching Space Time on PBS. He also has a green thumb — in his free time, he enjoys gardening, and his long‑term plan is to turn his yard into a fruit forest.

Katia Knitter

20 years in trade compliance

Katia brings 15+ years of trade compliance experience and proudly embraces her status as a trade‑compliance nerd. She has a deep appreciation for the details involved in authorization management (she’s been there) and is constantly improving AMES to give you the best possible user experience.

She graduated from Universidade Nove de Julho in São Paulo, Brazil, with a Bachelor of Business Administration focused on International Business, and later earned an MBA in Business Intelligence.

At KNITTECH, Katia connects real‑world global trade scenarios with our solutions in ways that are practical, clear, and genuinely useful to the people doing the work every day.

Outside of work, Katia is a hiking enthusiast and loves traveling — her favorite place in the world is Switzerland.
